Moisture and Water Management

Insulating Concrete Forms Offer Better Moisture Control

One of the single biggest issues associated with building construction defects and poor building performance is moisture and water intrusion. Millions and millions of dollars are spent every year mitigating moisture issues in buildings. The primary culprit for moisture intrusion in a building is a poorly designed and constructed envelope.

Insulated concrete forms, when used for the building envelope, can dramatically reduce the chances of moisture intrusion due to the fact that ICF wall assembly itself is a vapor retarder and the connection points can be designed to virtually eliminate any water intrusion. In addition to this, by creating an interior environment that allows the mechanical systems to control the amount of humidity in the living spaces, the ability for mold to form is greatly reduced or eliminated.
